This detail page shows several photos of the book to show what a first edition looks like.  The images are original photos taken of my personal copy of the first edition book. 

Please Pass the Guilt (1973):

• The dustjacket has some unique features:
• The front flap has the price ($5.95) at the top and "0973" at the bottom.
• The back flap has a colophon and four lines about Viking Press. 
• The back cover has "The Viking Press Publishers New York" and "SBN 670-55994-6". 
• The first edition is thicker than the book club edition. 
• The endpapers are black instead of white. 
• The copyright page has "SBN 670-55994-6" and the Library of Congress catalog number on it. 
• The first edition book cover is black with a red spine and gold lettering, completely different from the book club edition, as you can see below.

• The first edition measures .75" x 5.6" x 8.2"
• The book club edition measures .65" x 5.75" x 8.5"
