This detail page shows several photos of the book to show what a first edition looks like.  The images are original photos taken of my personal copy of the first edition book. 

Gambit (1962):

• The dustjacket has some unique features:
• The front flap has the price at the top and has three lines about Viking Press at the bottom. 
• The back flap has the colophon present, as well as three lines about Viking Press above "Printed in USA".
• The back flap of the book club edition is completely blank except for "Prinetd in USA."
• The title page has the colophon on it on both editions.
• The copyright page has the Library of Congress catalog number and "Printed in the USA by the Colonial Press" on it. 
• The first edition book cover is medium blue with a red colophon on it, with red lettering on the spine.
• The book cover of the book club edition is a darker blue and is smooth, also with a colophon on it.
• I have included an animated GIF file that compares many of the relevant points for a clearer understanding.
• The first edition measures .8" x 5.7" x 8.3"
• The book club edition measures .8" x 5.8" x 8.55"
