This detail page shows several photos of the book to show what a first edition looks like. The images are original photos taken of my personal copy of the first edition book.
Death of a Doxy (1966):
- The dustjacket has some unique features:
- The front flap has the price ($3.75) at the top and "The Viking Press New York" at the bottom.
- The back flap has three lines about Viking Press above "Printed in USA".
- The back of the dustjacket has "The Viking Press Publishers New York" at the bottom.
- The title page of the first editon, the word "DOXY" is in white on a black background, where the book club edition is the opposite.
- The copyright page has the Library of Congress catalog number and "Printed in USA by the Colonial Press, Inc" on it.
- The first edition book cover is yellow with blue pie sections on the cover, with a gray spine and blue lettering, completely different from the book club edition, as you can see below, with the book club edition being black.
- I have included an animated GIF file that compares many of the relevant points for a clearer understanding.
- The first edition measures .85" x 5.6" x 8.3"
- The book clubv edition measures .7" x 5.7" x 8.55"
